--------Now I am a huge fan of cool science fiction vehicles, spaceships, cars, tanks, boats etc. If there is something positive to say about this movie it is that there are some really cool boats or arcs at the ending. Is it enough to justify the ticket price? You gotta answer that for yourself. This is definitely one of those movies that are better on the big screen. --------I would say that one of the biggest problems with this movie is that it suffers from Armageddon syndrome. The movie Armageddon had countless scenes that had the protagonists racing against the clock only to complete whatever stupid task they were doing at the last possible second. That could mean disembarking from a space station, drilling a hole, out running the sun and any number of other preposterous situations. Now 2012 is definitely better than Armageddon, but that aint saying much. Armageddon is the second worse movie I recall seeing. --------Now for some positive news. I think I am going to have to go out on a limb here and declare that Heroes is getting good. Last week was a cool time travel episode. This week we get the return of Doctor Suresh. We also get one step closer to a complete Sylar. My bet is by the end of the season, maybe sooner, Sylar will be back and Nathan Petrelli will be resurrected. Killing off a main character is a ballsy move and I don’t see the people who put Heroes out as being that kind of ballsy. I like it when a show kills of characters. It adds something to the show. It makes it so the threats and dangers are real. If you know a show is never going to kill off a character then you can never truly be all that concerned. Unfortunately this is the standard and a show that kills off its main characters is the exception. --------This week I got hired at two different part time jobs. This means that within a month I will be caught up at the comic book shop and able to get back to reviewing comics as they come out. I am really wondering what is going on with the Hulk-Sword. I have been selling some comic books on Ebay lately, not my collection. Don’t worry. I was going through some old Fantastic Four issues when I saw something truly atrocious. Did you know that back in 1984 Sue Storm sported a mullet? I know its crazy. I showed it to my girl who is a hairdresser and she told me that at one time it was considered a fashionable haircut. No I was around in the eighties and to the best of my recollection it was hillbilly then. --------Next week I will be in Colorado for Thanksgiving hanging out with my family. As a family tradition we like to watch movies on the holidays so I will try to catch a showing of Ninja Assassin and let you all know what I think. |
