--------With all the excitement of Ninja assassin I let the opening of The Road slip by. I just happened to be walking by the theater when I saw that the movie was out. Guess I gotta stay on top of that stuff a little more. Last Friday I made it out to the theater to see The Road. Now I am a huge fan of the post-apocalyptic Genre. One of the comics I am developing is post-apocalyptic. So when I saw the preview for The Road I got very excited. I have like Viggo Mortensen since he played Aragorn. Post-Apocalyptic with Aragorn seemed like a win-win to me. The preview showed plenty of action and some really cool settings.

--------Now every scene that is in the preview does appear in the movie. However the flavor simply is not the same. There is some action however this is not an action movie. This is a long depressing movie that depicts a very realistic vision of what a post-apocalyptic world may look like. Everybody in this movie is hungry all the time. Watching this movie made me hungry, which incidentally is not all that hard. This movie is no Mad Max. Now don’t get me wrong. It is a good movie. It just isn’t what I thought it would be. This movie had the same feel as John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath. During the course of the movie Viggo uses only one bullet. This movie is no Mad Max. My recommendation is to catch it, but catch it on DVD.

--------Now onto some comic book news. Just recently I got hired as a waiter at a couple restaurants. This has allowed me to start chipping away at the gigantic pile of comic books my guy at the shop has been holding onto for me. BTW if you live in the Fort Lauderdale area you should be getting your comics at CJ’s. This guy actually reads comic books and will work with you. So last week I got caught up on Hulk, Incredible Hulk, Thor and Son of Hulk.

--------So lets start with the Red Hulk. I like this comic. I like the art and I like the action. What is really starting to drag is the whole, “Who is the Red Hulk?” thing. I am over it. It has been 17 issues now and still they drag it out. Is the answer to that question so lame that they think they are gonna lose readers? Just spit it out. Instead what do they do? They introduce a new Red She Hulk and give her a mysterious secret identity. I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep acting like they were on the verge of revealing it. I got an idea. Write a good story. That’s all you got to do. It seems like every Red Hulk storyline has been a who is the Red Hulk storyline. Get over yourself Marvel.

--------Now Thor is a comic I have enjoyed since they brought it back. The art and storytelling is superb. I could use a little more action, however I seem to say that about everything. The only thing that really bothers me about the current storyline is this. Don’t trust Loki or DR Doom. I just don’t understand how they could write a story that involves Asgardians trusting Loki and Moving to Latveria. What part of God of Mischief do you not understand?

--------I picked up two more issues of The Incredible Hulk. This comic is probably the one I am currently anticipating the most. The is still no Hulk in it. Instead we get Bruce Banner with his magical bag of tricks and Skaar. The throw-down of Banner/Skaar vs. Wolverine/Daken is amusing. Wolverine fights every single incarnation of the Hulk and this one is no different. Banner PWNS him though. So why shouldn’t the son of Wolverine and The Hulk tussle? I can’t think of a reason. The next issue features The Warbound, whom I haven’t seen since their mini-series. It also has The Leader pop up at the end, and to my disappointment he is being drawn like he was in the sixties. Weaksauce. Go back to the way McFarlane drew him.

--------Finally I just read three more issues of Son of Hulk, Which used to be called Skaar: Son of Hulk. Now Skaar is on Earth running around with Banner and this comic now features a little dude named Hiram. I was confused so I checked out the Wikipedia page and it said this guy claims to be the son of the Hulk. It’s a little confusing. I don’t buy it. I read Planet Hulk and I don’t recall anything in there about more than one offspring. I call Shenanigans!
