--------Saturday night I was able to catch The Wolfman. I had of course seen the previews for this one several times and I was not all that excited about seeing it. However my girl was really excited about seeing it. It was Saturday night the night before Valentines Day and I had to work a double the next day so Saturday was date night. You know, dinner and a movie. We also went to a crazy party afterwards, but I wont get into that.

--------Let me start by saying that the art direction in this movie was top notch. I of course don’t have first hand experience of what England was like in 1891, however this movie transported me to a place that is what I can imagine it might have been like. To me the look of a movie is very important, so I can forgive a lot if I find the movie is visually pleasing. There was definitely a good amount of gore and intestines strewn about. The Creatures were cool.

--------I know I seem to be in the minority in this one, however I have always preferred the bipedal wolfmen to werewolves. I guess the concept of a man wolf hybrid is more interesting to me than a really big wolf. There is no mistaking a wolfman for a really big wolf. It is obviously a magical creature of some sort, especially if it is still wearing ripped up clothes. A werewolf however can be mistaken as such, something that happens all the time in movies.

--------Where I had the most fun in this movie is with Benicio Del Toro’s acting. He had this way about him the whole time that screamed out to me, “Hey! I’m acting over here. Forget about it!” It took me a while to come up with who he reminded me of. About an hour after the movie it came to me. He was Shatnering it up, and his wolfman stance had that same feel to it. It was awesome.

--------There was nothing really new or intriguing about the story. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out who the wolfman was. I guess that is OK if you are remaking a movie. I don’t really remember much about the original movie. I am interested in seeing it now and comparing the two. One thing I will give them is they did deliver with the big wolfman fight. There was a fight and it was awesome. So it had that going for it. One other touch I would like to point out is in the final tear stained moments Danny Elfman busted out a couple piano melodies that reminded me of the theme from the seventies Hulk TV show. You know the one; they played it at the end of every episode while he hitchhiked on down the road. If you don’t you can check it out here. And here is a funny Hulk theme song from the sixties that I just uncovered while I was finding the last link. Enjoy!
